In Memory: Alison Barabe (December 1974 – July 2016) On July 30th, 2016 we lost one of our beautiful "W.O.F.F." sisters very suddenly.
Alison was a girl who made us laugh, smile and love each and every day. She helped start Women of Fishing Families, and she was a fantastic force when it came to planning an event, advocating for fishermen - and their families - and giving her all to us and our fishing community. We miss her every single day - her smile and laughter will always be our hearts and in our wonderful memories, and she will continue to live on as we try and follow the example and the bar she set for all of us as we continue in our mission.
Alison was married to Billy Barabe, a year-round wild shellfish harvester and lifelong fisherman who has crewed on every type of fishing vessel, and she was the mother of a terrific teenage-daughter, Laura.
Laura has continued her mom's hard work by joining WOFF during our events and by helping in our fundraising efforts. Alison loved her family, cooking, cocktails on the beach, Bertha and following the sun. She hated visors ; )
Missing you, Alison,
- Love your WOFF girls
